Green tea has been used in China and Japan for over many centuries as a weight loss supplement. Over the last few decades, it has gained a lot of popularity in the West as a means to loosing weight, especially in North America and Britain. It is easy to loose weight with green tea.
On Nov 10th 2004, Oprah featured green tea in her show, as an aid for diet and weight loss. A doctor Perricone was present at the show who discussed the virtues of green tea.

“Oprah: Now I've read in your book that you said if I just replaced coffee with green tea instead, that I could lose 10 pounds in six weeks.
Dr. Perricone: Absolutely.
Oprah: Now really. How could that -- what is the big deal about this?
Dr Perricone: Coffee has organic acids that raise your blood sugar, raise insulin. Insulin puts a lock on body fat. When you switch over to green tea, you get your caffeine, you're all set, but you will drop your insulin levels and body fat will fall very rapidly. So 10 pounds in six weeks, I will guarantee it.
Oprah: I'm gonna do that. OK. That is so good! Whoo! That is great.”
Dr Perricone mentions that switching from coffee to green tea will assist you in loosing weight. There is a lot of scientific research that claims that green tea is generally good for health as it aids digestion, boosts immunity, is good for the heart and strokes, etc.
By using green tea in your diet plan, you are guaranteed a reasonable amount of weight loss, however there is a small catch. You must exercise regularly, eat lots of raw vegetables and fruits and keep away from high fat, high cholesterol foods.
