Link between Green Tea and Preventing Diabetes Found

Scientists Have Now Discovered A Link Between Drinking Green Tea And Preventing Diabetes.

The benefits of drinking green tea have just been given more importance. Apart from being loaded with health benefits such as anti ageing, increased metabolism, weight loss, and improved heart condition, there is new research that drinking a cup of green tea may help prevent diabetes.

Researchers have claimed in a  recent study published in the journal Food Chemistry,  that a catechin ( a polyphenol plant compound) found in green tea known as EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate), may protect diabetics and those with high glucose levels or pre-diabetic conditions, from serious complications.

The Taiwanese researchers at the National Institute of Cancer Research in Taiwan proved that the green tea extract "protects from the harmful cascade of detrimental effects that are known to be triggered by high glucose levels".

In other words, drinking green tea on a regular basis may be a powerful natural way to help prevent the harms associated with high blood sugar levels.
